With a future as bright and shiny as his LS2 helmet-Michael Mowery is ready for 2020

Residing in Colorado Springs Colorado, we catch up with 13 year old Michael Mowery as he preps for the 2020 season to get started.

XFT: Hey Michael! How has life been for you since the quarantine started? Are you going crazy?

MICHAEL: My days right now are actually kind of the same- I am still trying to ride as often as I can, stay in shape , and really do all the things I would normally be doing. We were a little worried if we were going to be able to have the 85 ready for Waco, so the quarantine has definitely helped us in that regards.

XFT: On your Michael Mowery Racing facebook page you have clearly been busy in the off season.

MCHAEL: Yes for sure, as soon as the Xtreem Flattrack Series ended I rode until it started snowing, and then I rode on the ice! I was fortunate to be able to race indoors in Kansas in February and March. Unfortunately the bottom end of my 85 let go there-so we were semi scrambling to try and get it ready for the season opener.

XFT: We see you also have a 250 now is that right?

MICHAEL: Yes, we were able to get it picked up a little while ago. We are making strides on it and I look forward to riding that bike this year and advancing up into the 250 AM class. My Mom just got the new graphics ordered, and they are going to look awesome with my new Moto-Gear leathers.

XFT: You won the 85cc and the 0-249cc class this year. Does the weight of multi championships put pressure on you?

MICHAEL: I think I put a certain amount of pressure on myself all the time.  I have to make sure I am performing at my optimum ability and make sure that my bike is at premium as well. If not, I couldn’t hold on to the multi-year position. But I do know that to be promoted you have to be able to be replaced.

XFT: Those are some pretty wise words for such a young competitor. Which track are you looking forward to the most next year?

MICHAEL: I was looking forward to the new & improved Waco, just to see if it is still awesome. I also am looking forward to L87 Speedway in Corpus Christi. That track was so awesome last year I’m excited to go there again. My parents are excited for Sturgis but probably not just for the racing!

XFT: We know as soon as this stuff passes and we are able, you will be the first one in line for practice.

MICHAEL: Just tell me when and we are ready! I really have to thank the following Sponsors for 2020.
