Anthony Lochbaum has a clear vision for 2020

When Moto Gear Leathers partnered with the Xtreem Flattrack Series this year to introduce the Moto Gear Army ( #motogeararmy) program, we couldn’t help but think of Anthony Lochbaum. Not only is Anthony a long time member of the Moto Gear Army, but he is consistently found towards the front of a race, always on the frontline putting in the long hard battles. We had to catch up with him and see what was going on.

XFT: Anthony with all this downtime we are catching up with some Racers to see how they are holding up. How stir crazy are you right now?

ANTHONY: If I can be totally honest, this pandemic has not really changed anything about my day to day program. I was homeschooled forever so being home all day isn’t new to me. I suppose the only difference is I am not racing somewhere most weekends.

XFT: You have won several Amateur and Pro Championships on your way up thru the series since you started racing, but even you agreed the last 3 years have seen some of the best competition ever in the series, do you still feel that is true?

Anthony: Without question it is getting harder every year. This year I expect some real challenges from some guys coming up from the Amateur classes like Mark Olley, Joe Brittenham and a few others.

XFT: Although you were always pretty competitive in 2019 it looked like maybe you were always struggling just a little bit in some department that seemed to hamper standing on top of the podium at the end of the night. Will 2020 be different?

ANTHONY: You are exactly right. my bikes just never felt 100% and I always seemed to have some sort of little struggle. I really buckled down towards the end of the year, and have spent all offseason riding and training with others at Red Gap Moto in Cisco, Texas. This has elevated my game for 2020. I have a real good bike under me, these so fresh and clean Moto Gear Leathers on , and a great team, we are def looking for some redemption.

XFT: You come from a flattrack background, your Grandfather Wild Will Kelley has raced for decades and even won a few Vintage championships in his day. He has helped you every step of your journey is that right?

ANTHONY: For sure! All my Family is very supportive and I couldn’t be doing any of this without that support. Unfortunately due to health concerns my grandpa cant make many races, but we keep in contact over the phone at the track.

XFT: We have been asking the riders what track they are most looking forward to once we get started?

ANTHONY: I am looking forward to Waco. I have been racing there since I started when I was 6 years old. When they reconfigured it, it threw a wrench in my program and it took me a long time to feel really comfortable there. Now that they have reshaped it again and its back to normal I think its going to be great!

XFT: We hope to get started sooner then later. We appreciate you taking the time to chat with us and everyone wishes you good luck in 2020.

ANTHONY: Thanks again, and thanks to all my Sponsors who make it possible. See everyone real soon!
