Thurman looking to defend his NFT Championship with new team
2024 Pro Singles and Open Pro National Flattrack Champion Justin Thurman is going to have a lot of the same and a lot of not the same heading into the season opener, but he has the utmost confidence to get the job done.
“Last year was crazy, I hadn’t committed myself to racing much at all and then got the phone call that got it all started” Thurman states. Current #1 plate holder in the series Michael Mowery was going to take a step back and the team was looking for a new rider.
Justin continues, “Jake Latimer with NFT was a key player in helping to put the package together in conjunction with the Mowery’s. Just in the blink of an eye overnight I was suddenly going to be on the best equipment money could buy, with a team and several sponsors. I knew it was my time to shine”
“To be honest I had never heard of Justin until he started showing up our annual races during the Steel Horse rally in May” Jake Latimer states, “I was like WOW where did this guy come from? He rode like hell but always seemed to be battling some deficit-flat tire, blown shock, etc., but was still very competitive. He was the first person I thought of when speaking to the Mowery’s, I thought if he just had a chance on equal equipment, he could be a front runner - I think we were all very impressed with his riding and results this year, he cleaned house”
“I knew this was probably going to be my last year- at least full time with this team as they had already decided to take a step back for 2025, so I wanted to make the most of it and we did” Justin says, “We all had a great time last year and it has kickstarted us into the new NFT season where we plan to defend both titles”
“This season will see me racing once again full time out our own race shop with my Father and help from Sponsors and Friends riding our own equipment. We are currently adding a framer to our arsenal and plan to travel to as many races as possible and back up our Championships. We are a small team with minor sponsors and like all racers need help to keep the wheels turning and achieve our goals.
