NEW NATIONAL FLAT TRACK SERIES LAUNCHES THIS SATURDAY IN OKLAHOMA
MEEKER, OK – April 4, 2024 -- Last-minute preparations are being made to a bevy of two-wheeled machines. Riders ranging in age from five to 75 are giddy with anticipation. Not only is there an all-new flat track motorcycle racing series in the United States, but it’s a grassroots effort bringing the opportunity to race and be a national champion to riders of all skill levels. It’s also taking place at one of the most popular racetracks in the country. National Flat Track launches its 2024 season this Saturday, April 6 at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Oklahoma.
National Flat Track (NFT) is the creation of former Pro Racer, Jake Latimer, whose desire to create a training ground for newer riders working to become pros as well as a place for former pros, who still love racing has all led to this Saturday.
“Flat track motorcycle racing has seen a resurgence over the past few years, at the pro level,” said Latimer. “Still, there was not a regular series for riders trying to make their way to the pro ranks to be able to run regularly and have the opportunity to earn a national championship. NFT is now providing that opportunity, plus a place for first-time riders and seasoned vets to be able to race, earn a championship, and continue having fun. We love this sport and we want to create the next generation of riders to keep the sport alive and thriving. That’s why we’re doing this,” Latimer said.
In 2024, NFT will hold races in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois, Ohio, Montana, and Washington. Each state will feature its own state series, leading to regional championship events. The season will culminate with a National Championship event. Right now, all focus is on the first race and one of the toughest short tracks around in Oklahoma’s Red Dirt Raceway.
“We are so pumped to open the NFT series at Red Dirt Raceway,” said Latimer. “I lived in Oklahoma a few years ago. I’ve had the chance to ride the track. It’s fast, fun, and I think our racers are going to love it. The facility just continues to improve and gain in popularity. With the schedule that Cody Brewer, Red Dirt Raceway’s owner, has put together this year, with his regular series, the High Limit Sprint Cars, USAC Midgets, USAC Sprint Cars, and everything else he does, I’m just honored we could debut National Flat Track motorcycle racing here,” said Latimer.
The stage is set for an exciting debut event, a new series focused on the racers and fans alike, and some new National Flat Track motorcycle champions at the end of 2024. Red Dirt Raceway spectator gates open Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and racing begins at 6:00 p.m.
